Jon Lindstrom Reveals the Secret to Playing a Great Villain (EXCLUSIVE)

Back in 1992, Jon Lindstrom joined GENERAL HOSPITAL as sociopath Ryan… only to have good twin Kevin be the brother who kept him working in Port Charles for decades. In recent years, however, the actor has gotten to explore his darker side for characters on HBO’s TRUE DETECTIVE, Amazon’s BOSCH, and CBS’ NCIS: LOS ANGELES and S.W.A.T. — as well as with Ryan, of course! “It’s very full circle,” Lindstrom chuckled to Soaps In Depth, adding that when he tackles villains now, he keeps his performances small.

“I’ve learned that one of my stocks-in-trade is restraint,” he explained. “As you get older and become more experienced, you realize that sometimes the less you do, the more impact it has. When you look at the great TV, movie, and even theater actors, there’s a real pleasure in watching simplicity. I seem to have fallen into a place where I can do that when it’s called for, and I’m really enjoying it.”
