Katelyn MacMullen Opens up About Playing Pregnant on GH

In addition to the makeup she wears to make her appear ill on GENERAL HOSPITAL, Katelyn MacMullen has been strapping on a fake baby bump as well since Willow is also expecting a baby with Michael. And the actress has been enjoying playing pretend pregnant on the soap.

“It’s always pretty funny when I FaceTime my boyfriend from work and I’m wearing it,” she admitted in a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest with a chuckle. “He’s like, ‘That is so weird.’

Never having been pregnant herself, MacMullen has been fascinated by experiencing at least part of what it’s like… even if it turns out that the pregnancy pillow is more than just a cushion strapped to her belly! “It really is kind of crazy,” she confided. “It’s a body suit and it really feels like it’s a part of your body. It’s made so well that it’s really trippy.

“They started me out with a small one,” she continued, “then I got upgraded to a bigger one and when I tried it on, it was genuinely heavier, but I kind of like it! It honestly helps you feel like you are pregnant. It’s really quite interesting.”

Of course, Willow isn’t the only expectant mom in Port Charles right now — Avery Kristen Pohl’s Esme is also pregnant so there are two actresses in the studio wearing padding. “There have been times where we have run into each other in the hallway and we both have ours on, but we haven’t had scenes together,” MacMullen smiled. “Every time we see each other, we’re like, ‘We need to get a photo together!’ But we’re always in a rush.”
