Kathleen Gati Celebrates Her Anniversary at GENERAL HOSPITAL!

Tags:

Time flies when you’re having fun! Kathleen Gati is celebrating 10 years playing Liesl Obrecht on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and we can’t believe it’s been that long already! “Ten years this week at GH,” she shared on Instagram. “First day at this studio was July 31, 2012 for a quick stint!

“Thank you [executive producer] Frank Valentini, [casting director] Mark Teschner, and to all cast and crew,” she continued. “And of course to all you amazing GH fans for the 10 years of love and kindness!”

When Gati was first hired at GH, Obrecht was meant to be a short-term villain… a plan which obviously changed in a big way! “They needed a German doctor to say a few things and then go,” Gati recalled to Soaps In Depth back when she first started. “That’s what I did, I left.”

But the character kept building, and the writers eventually gave her a daughter, Britt Westbourne, and later additional family members in Nathan West, Madeline Reeves, and Nina Reeves. And over time, Obrecht herself grew from a dastardly villainess into a loving mother and loyal friend. Heck, even her troubled romances with villains like Cesar Faison and Victor Casadine are behind her and she’s got a pretty good thing going with Scott Baldwin now!

So please join us in congratulating Gati on her decade in Port Charles, and here’s to 10 more… and another 10 after that! The sky’s the limit!
