Kelly Monaco Explains Why She Isn’t More Active on Social Media

Social media can be a great way for celebrities to stay in touch with their fans, and while she may not use it as much as some of her GENERAL HOSPITAL co-stars, Kelly Monaco (Sam) took a moment to let her supporters know just how much they are appreciated. “Hello my dreamy Sam fans,” she tweeted. “I have been reading through a lot of the posts here. And I want all of you to know that I do read each and every one of them. I may not answer… obviously. But your support does not go unnoticed.” She also included the hashtag “#BestFansEver.”

Plenty of fans were thrilled to hear from their fave and flooded her Twitter with love. And joining them was Monaco’s former GH co-star Michelle Stafford (ex-Nina, now Phyllis, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS)! “Will you read this” Stafford replied to her gal pal’s initial tweet of gratitude. “I love you, girl! Miss you!” And her TV dad William deVry (ex-Julian) chimed in with: “In not only support of my friend, Kelly, but also to ‘ditto’ the sentiments.”

Unfortunately, one fan’s response showed why Monaco has to be careful interacting on social media as even the smallest thing can be taken out of context and blown out of proportion. When a fan took note of the actress calling her fans “dreamy,” they assumed it meant she was giving a secret shout-out to “Dream” fans (Drew and Sam) on the down-low. “Absolutely not true,” Monaco responded. “Don’t read too much into words. That’s all they are, just words. When people take things the wrong way — and I feel like I can’t speak freely — is why I choose not to respond back to anyone.”

So while Monaco may not be particularly active on social media, fans can take heart that she is aware of their posts and appreciates all their support towards her and her continuing career on GH. So keep spreading the love!
