GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Kirsten Storms is Recovering from Brain Surgery

Tags:

Please join us in sending wishes for a speedy recovery to GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Kirsten Storms (Maxie) as she recovers from brain surgery! The actress shared the shocking news in a series of Instagram stories earlier this evening when her bestie, Emme Rylan (ex-Lulu, GH), picked her up from the hospital.

In the videos, Storms was seated in the front seat of Rylan’s car, sporting a neck brace with a pillow propped behind her back, presumably to keep her neck straight following the operation. “I’ve not really spoken about this much, or at all, actually,” she confessed. “Less than 48 hours ago, I had brain surgery. Hence the neck brace. It was on the lower portion of my brain. Emme is taking care of me until I get to my at-home nurse.”

Storms went on to explain more about her medical crisis, reassuring fans that the mass on her brain was not cancerous. “What they had to drain and remove was not cancer,” she insisted. “I want to clarify that right now before the internet goes crazy wild with rumors about this. I had a very large cyst that had to split into two. The doctor said it was so full, the pressure was very noticeable when they opened up my skull.”

Brain surgery is kind of a big deal when it comes to medical procedures, so Storms will understandably be on a restricted schedule for the foreseeable future as she recovers — and that includes taking some time off from the soap “I will be on the mend for the next several weeks,” she explained. “I will be back at work when this is over with.”

At that, her best friend interjected that time off was well-deserved. “I mean, I think you can take a moment,” Rylan laughed, causing Storms to laugh in return. “Yeah, I’m going to knit during this time,” the patient confessed.

Although Storms clearly looks like she’s in pain in the video, we’re glad that she still managed to share some laughs with her best friend! “Thank you to Emme for taking care of me,” she gushed.

Stay tuned to see how Storms’ real-life health crisis will impact Maxie’s on-screen drama. And hopefully, we will see the actress back on the screen very soon!
