Laura Wright Shares an Update on Her Status at GENERAL HOSPITAL

Tags:

The internet can be a great place for fans to stay on top of all the latest news regarding their favorite daytime dramas and soap stars, but they also need to be careful not to believe everything they read online because there is also a lot of misinformation flying around out there. And GENERAL HOSPITAL star Laura Wright (Carly) took to social media on Oct. 2 to debunk a rumor that she’s leaving the soap.

Though the actress didn’t specify the source of the rumor, she posted on X to reassure her loyal fans there was no truth to it. “Not sure how these crazy rumors get started but heck no, I’m not going anywhere,” Wright declared. “I’ll stay as long as you guys will have me!” She also tagged GH and included the hashtags “#CarlysWorld” and “#GHBaby.”

Wright made her daytime debut back in 1991 when she joined the cast of LOVING as Ally Rescott, and brought the character over to spinoff THE CITY in 1995. In 1997, she moved over to CBS to originate the role of Cassie Layne on GUIDING LIGHT, which she played until 2005 when she took over as Carly Corinthos on GH.

During her three decades in daytime, Wright has earned seven Daytime Emmy Award nominations in the Lead Actress category and took home the trophy in 2011 for her work on GH.

With Carly’s relationship with Drew just getting off the ground (it stalled when he was sent to prison) as well as the upcoming reveal of Nina’s role in turning them in to the SEC for insider trading, there are still plenty of juicy storylines yet to play for Wright’s alter ego. So fans can take comfort in knowing that the actress will continue delivering award-winning performances on GH as Carly for a long time to come!
