Lexi Ainsworth Returns to GENERAL HOSPITAL!
With GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Sonny presumed dead, the Corinthos clan is closing ranks, rallying around the Mob boss’ widow, Carly, and putting up a united front. But there is one family member who has been missing from the gatherings: Sonny and Alexis’ daughter, Kristina, played by Lexi Ainsworth. But that is all about to change!
On Jan. 20, the actress shared a clip to her Instagram stories that she was watching the inauguration of President Joe Biden. While that wouldn’t be newsworthy on its own, the fact that Ainsworth revealed on the slide that she was watching the presidential inauguration from the Prospect Studios — where GH tapes — certainly was!
Yes, yes, there are other series that film at the Prospect Studios, which is owned and operated by The Walt Disney Company. And it could have been possible that Ainsworth was working on one of the other shows that call those soundstages home. But as news began to spread across social media that she was returning to GH, Ainsworth confirmed her daytime return by sharing screenshots of the reports in her Instagram stories.
Ainsworth took over the role of Alexis and Sonny’s daughter in June of 2009 and played the part until the fall of 2011. She returned to the soap in December 2014 and has appeared on and off for story arcs — like the Dawn of Day cult tale — ever since. While the actress’ last appearance on GH was in April 2020, she also worked on several other projects last year. Ainsworth guest-starred in an episode of the Showtime dramedy SHAMELESS and co-starred in Obsessed: Her Final Vengeance, the third and final film in Lifetime’s Obsession “thrillogy” series in July.
Presumably, Kristina will rejoin the family fold to mourn her presumed-dead father. But with this Corinthos wild child, anything is possible and Krissy could be coming back for a completely different reason! Soap Opera News is reporting that Ainsworth will be back on the screen on Monday, Feb. 8, so GH fans should stay tuned to see how Kristina’s return will impact her grieving family!
