Lisa LoCicero Explains How She Keeps Olivia in Character (EXCLUSIVE)
Olivia has done some pretty crazy things over the last 12 years on GENERAL HOSPITAL — even a few that seemed out of character. “It happens to everyone if you’re in this business long enough,” portrayer Lisa LoCicero told Soaps In Depth. “Your character just does something you don’t think they would do — because we’re supposed to be doing things that are sort of ridiculous!”
The daytime vet noted that soap scribes create great tension and good story by pushing characters’ boundaries and taking them out of their comfort zones. “How much stress can we put on these characters, and how are they going to get out of it?” Lo- Cicero posed. “That’s what makes soap operas interesting to watch. And really, any person is capable of doing almost anything under the right circumstances! So I feel like it’s my job to figure out a reason that my character would do it, try to make it believable… and then see what happens.”
