Maurice Benard and Vanessa Marcil Reunite — See the Video!
Sonny and Brenda back together again! GENERAL HOSPITAL fan favorites Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Vanessa Marcil (ex-Brenda) reunited this past weekend — and it was a monumental occasion! The get-together went down at the wedding reception for Benard’s daughter, Cailey, who married Carlos Avila last June mid-COVID in a small, intimate affair. June 5 was the day before the couple’s first anniversary, and they celebrated in style with a lavish bash hosted by the bride’s parents, Benard and his beautiful wife, Paula. And on the party’s guest list? Marcil and her police officer fiancé, affectionately known as MC!
The happy father-of-the-bride shared a video of their reunion on Instagram. “I’m so happy that I got to see Vanessa again at my daughter’s wedding,” the GH star said. “Look at her!”
Dressed in a light pink top and grey dress slacks, Marcil stood by her former leading man’s side — and poked fun at the character of Sonny as she channeled the character Luca Brasi from the classic movie The Godfather. “What can I do for you this day, at the wedding of your daughter?” the actress quipped, fighting back a laugh.
Next, the video showed Marcil and Benard tearing up the dance floor while the DJ played the classic AC/DC song, “You Shook Me All Night Long.”
Over on her own Instagram page, Marcil posted a pic of her dance with Benard. “Um… Dancing with Maurice Benard. So, how was your night?” she wrote, hashtagging her casual caption with “Bitch, please I’m Brenda.” Hilariously, her dance partner commented on the post, pretending to be just like any other GH fan. “I freaking love him,” wrote Benard, along with two fire flame emojis.
Through a series of Instastories, Marcil shared moments from the event (which was held at the Benards’ home), including an adorable bromance between her fiancé and Benard as the actor showed off his beloved stable of goats. Marcil even gave the guys a couple smashname: MCMO! Marcil saved her stories to a highlights reel, which you can check out by clicking on the “MO” highlight at the top of her Instagram page.
Marcil and her partner weren’t the only GH colleagues who attended Cailey and Carlos’ celebration. Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) and wife Lisa, Real Andrews (Taggert) and wife Michele, and Chad Duell (Michael) and fiancée Courtney Hope (Sally, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) were also among the guests cheering the newlyweds.
So while we may not get a Sonny and Brenda reunion on GH anytime soon, these Instagram posts will have to tide us all over for the time being!
