Maurice Benard Boogies With TikTok’s Dancing UPS Man!

Tags:

There’s no doubt that GENERAL HOSPITAL star Maurice Benard (Sonny) has made great strides in his advocating for mental health awareness through his State of Mind YouTube series. And now he’s joined forces with another mental health advocate and content creator to spread some of that positivity further across social media… along with a little dancing!

Russell Butler, a UPS driver from Lubbock, Texas, has gained popularity over the past few years on Instagram and TikTok thanks to viral videos featuring him dancing to catchy tunes. Known as the “Dancing UPS Man,” he has over 1 million followers on social media platforms, where he “delivers good vibes through dance,” according to his Instagram bio. He has also been outspoken about his struggles with depression and how losing his best friend to suicide was a life-changing moment.

It’s unsurprising that, as mental health advocates, Benard and Butler recently connected when the latter taped an upcoming State of Mind episode. And to promote their conversation, Benard joined Butler for one of his dancing videos!

Playing on the title of Benard’s podcast, “State of Dancing” is what Butler titled the Instagram Reel of him and the actor dancing down a set of stairs to “Boogie Shoes” by KC & The Sunshine Band. “What an amazing experience,” Butler said about his chat with Benard. “And Maurice got some moves!”

Immediately, Butler’s followers — and he has lots of them! — recognized the GH star, and wondered in the comments how their dancing collaboration came about. “I flew out to be a guest on his podcast,” Butler explained. “We had an amazing conversation about mental health awareness. Coming soon!”

Butler also wrote a book titled Battling Depression: Winning the War in Our Minds. You can check out Benard’s State of Mind page on YouTube for updates on when his chat with Butler will be posted.
