Maurice Benard Uses a Pantsless Dominic Zamprogna to Sell Shirts!
In addition to playing Sonny Corinthos on GENERAL HOSPITAL, actor Maurice Benard is also an outspoken advocate for mental health and hosts his weekly State of Mind series on YouTube where he holds intimate discussions about various issues with his castmates and other professionals.
The Daytime Emmy winner recently launched a line of apparel featuring the State of Mind logo and inspirational phrases on T-shirts and hoodies. And Benard decided to have his TV son, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) wear one to help him advertise. The only problem is that when fans watched the video, they weren’t looking at the shirt!
“I’m not really promoting State of Mind,” Benard deadpanned to his GH castmate in his dressing room. “I just wanted you to do a video with the shirt on.” As Zamprogna confirms that it is “a State of Mind thing” because that’s what’s on the shirt, Benard pans the camera around to show his co-star standing there in his underpants!
Benard then tosses a green State of Mind tee to Zamprogna, who puts it on and asks if he at least gets to keep the shirt. “Well, Chad [Duell, Michael]’s gotta do it also,” he admits. Zamprogna chuckles about having to lend it to his TV brother and then asks, “I’m kind of in my underwear… are you gonna post this video?”
As Zamprogna offers a gun show for the camera, Benard declares, “It looks good on you!” Then he steps back and turns the camera back onto himself. “You know what,” he says, “I’m not going to even do the video. No, you’re alright. You can have the shirt, though. I’m not gonna put it up or anything.”
Of course, as fans know, Benard definitely did post the fun video to his Instagram page, though Zamprogna was clearly in on the joke as he shared it on his own Instagram as well. It’s a clever way to help promote the new T-shirts, although as we said, a lot of people weren’t really paying any attention to the shirt when the model wasn’t wearing any pants!
