Meet the GENERAL HOSPITAL Stunt Doubles!

The week of Sept. 13 was a hot one on GENERAL HOSPITAL… literally, as Peter set fire to the Tan-O and let it burn with Nina and Phyllis tied up inside of it! Jax and “Mike” were able to get them out but then “Mike” was trapped inside! On the bright side, the entire experience finally brought back Sonny’s memories! Of course, none of this intense action and drama would have been possible without the help of some very talented stunt doubles, hired to step in for the stars when things got a little too dangerous.

Sonny/Mike was doubled by actor and stuntman Joe Sobalo, Jr., who has also worked on series like LUCIFER and FOR ALL MANKIND as well as films like Ava and Lowlife. “It was such a pleasure to work again with Maurice Benard (Sonny), the stunt department, cast, and crew,” Sobalo Jr. expressed on Instagram. “Excuse my puns, but I was ‘fired’ up to do the scene. There aren’t many times when you go to work and look forward to getting ‘fired.”

The double for Ingo Rademacher (Jax) was Casey Rutherford, has done stunt work in films like The Tomorrow War and The Call of the Wild as well as precision stunt driving in movies like F9: The Fast Saga, Ford v Ferrari, and The Art of Racing in the Rain.

And for the ladies, Cynthia Watros (Nina) was doubled by Lauren Shaw and Joyce Guy (Phyllis) by Melanin Heard. Shaw has done stunts for numerous series like REVENGE, SCORPION, CRIMINAL MINDS, AMERICAN HORROR STORY, JANE THE VIRGIN, and WESTWORLD. As an actress, she can be seen in SPARTACUS, MODERN FAMILY, S.W.A.T., and more. Heard’s IMDb page only lists GH and the upcoming remake of House Party as her stunt credits.
