Nancy Lee Grahn’s Daughter Kate Grahn Releases Her Debut Album!

Tags:

Proud mom! GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis) took to social media to share that her daughter Kate will be releasing her first collection of songs next month! On Instagram, the GH actress shared one of her daughter’s TikTok videos, revealing that Ragdoll will be releasing on March 12. “Graduated from music school right when the pandemic started,” Kate said in the text of her video. “So I recorded my first EP. There was laughter, a lot of tears, but mostly a whole lotta (safe) fun.”

Kate, who graduated from the prestigious Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, has actually been writing, recording, and performing music for quite some time. One of her songs, a romantic ballad titled “Over Again,” was used in a May 2019 episode of PRETTY LITTLE LIARS: THE PERFECTIONISTS. And she’d previously released a powerful rock song called “Someday Baby,” and has been performing on stage (including at GH Fan Club events!) since she was a young girl.

Ahead of the EP’s release, Kate released a single titled “The Name” last month, a powerful “feminist rant” in support of women’s equality. “I wrote this song because I’m tired of how society has normalized the regular dehumanization of women,” Kate wrote on Instagram. “To imply that a woman with a PhD need not call herself a doctor, to refer to a presidential candidate as nasty… this kind of behavior rarely holds consequences, to say nothing of the millions of women without prestige and power who are degraded and condescended to on a daily basis. This song is a rant, this song is an anthem, this song is me daring you to call us another name.”

“The Name” follows up Kate’s December single, “Untangling,” a song about her lifelong struggle with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Tic Disease. You can listen to “The Name” in the YouTube video below or stream the tune on Spotify. And don’t forget to pre-save Ragdoll on your favorite streaming music service here!
