Nicholas Chavez Reveals the Truth Behind Trina and Spencer’s Reunion on GH
Fans were overjoyed to see Trina and Spencer reunited on GENERAL HOSPITAL, and those who were surprised when Trina ran and literally jumped into her beau’s arms weren’t the only ones — Nicholas Chavez (Spencer) admitted he wasn’t expecting his co-star to do that, either!
Knowing that there was a lot of buzz about the reunion on social media as well as questions, Chavez took to Twitter to reveal the truth behind the scene. “The number one question that I’m seeing getting asked is was that planned?” he related. “I mean, how many times did we rehearse the jump into my arms? Because I don’t know if you saw that, but I mean, if that was a diving competition, she would have gotten a 10.”
Soaps don’t really do a lot of rehearsal nowadays, and usually only give scenes one take each. “We rehearsed it once,” Chavez confided. “She was just supposed to hug me. It was supposed to be a nice embrace, we were gonna turn around, we were gonna kiss.
“Tabyana [Ali, Trina], in the spur of the moment — and I love that she did this — in the spur of the moment, when we got to the actual take, she jumps into my arms without warning!” he continued. “It was beautiful. I loved it. Definitely threw me for a second and then once I recovered… I mean, it was just so sweet.”
So viewers who found Trina leaping into Spencer’s arms a heart-meltingly romantic moment for the young couple have Ali to thank for making it so. “It was not rehearsed at all,” Chavez smiled. “That was not a rehearsed moment. It was completely improvised.”
And the actor is proud of how the scene came out in the end. “It was lovely,” he declared. “We just had an amazing time filming it. Definitely one of my favorite things I’ve ever filmed for GH.”
