GENERAL HOSPITAL’s Paulina Bugembe Is Engaged!
It’s been a while since GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers have seen Paulina Bugembe as Valerie Spencer, and while the character was unlucky in love, the actress has been dating her boyfriend, Ren, since 2009. And this weekend, while on vacation in Sequoia National Park and celebrating his birthday, he popped the question! “It’s happening!” Bugembe exclaimed on Instagram, showing off her beautiful ring. “Ren and I are getting married! He proposed to me next to a raging river and thank goodness it was just us because if you look at the picture you’ll see how puffy my face is from crying so much.
“I cannot wait to go on the rest of this journey called life with Ren by my side,” she continued, “and we are so so so so grateful for everyone who has cheered us on along the way. We didn’t have champagne to celebrate so we just filtered some ice cold water from the river and cheers!” She then concluded with “Y’all, I’m engaged what is this life?!”
Bugembe joined the cast of GH as Valerie Spencer back in April 2019 after the recurring character’s original portrayer, Brytni Sarpy was snatched up for a contract role by CBS soap THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. She appeared on and off as Valerie into 2020 with her last appearance so far being in September of that year. During this time, she’s also appeared in primetime series like NCIS and AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. as well as the comedy film Marvelous and the Black Hole.
The newly engaged Bugembe’s Instagram comments were flooded with congratulations and well-wishes from fans and friends, including some of her GH castmates. Briana Nicole Henry (Jordan), posted a series of heart and partying face emojis, and Katelyn MacMullen (Willow) declared: “OMG! Congrats, my love!”
