Fans of Rebecca Budig can look forward to seeing the actress in a new project as she has announced she’s back to work. Unfortunately, she didn’t reveal if it was at GENERAL HOSPITAL to play Hayden again, but judging from her selfie, it doesn’t look like Port Charles… ”Working…” she captioned the image.
Given how difficult it can be to find work during the ongoing global pandemic, it’s always exciting when a job becomes available. And Budig’s friends and former castmates on GH and ALL MY CHILDREN were quick to join the fans in the comments congratulating her on the new gig. “Peanut!” cheered AMC’s Cameron Mathison (Ryan). GH’s Finola Hughes offered a “Woo hoo!” while Tamara Braun (Ava, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; ex-Kim, GH) posted a bunch of applause emojis and Katelyn MacMullen opted for fire emojis. Alicia Minshew (Kendall, AMC) was the only one who seemed to be in on the secret. “Gorgeous!” she wrote. “I know… but I’m not gonna tell…”
Budig made quite a splash when she joined the cast of GH as Hayden Barnes back in March 2015, and though her character soon found herself in a coma after being shot, the soap eventually revived her and set her loose in Port Charles to stir up trouble. Hayden skipped town in 2017 when her past caught up to her but she was back in 2019 to reveal that she’d had Finn’s baby, Violet! So fans were understandably surprised when Hayden once again disappeared from the canvas, given how much story there was yet to tell.
Soap viewers first fell in love with Budig back in the ‘90s when she joined CBS sudser GUIDING LIGHT as Michelle Bauer. But her real breakout role was AMC’s Greenlee Smythe, a role she played from 1998-2011. After her most recent GH stint, Budig landed the role of Carlene Hart on L.A.’S FINEST. Unfortunately, Budig hasn’t yet revealed any details surrounding her new role. Whether it’s a return to daytime or another primetime role, we’ll be sure to let you know exactly where you can watch the talented actress as soon as she passes along the info. So stay tuned for updates!
