While GENERAL HOSPITAL alum Ryan Paevey (ex-Nathan) appeared in two movies for the Hallmark Channel late last year, the fan favorite revealed on Twitter/X that unfortunately, he does not have any new projects lined up for the cable network. And after a rough 2023, he’s taking some time to step back from showbiz!

Ironically, Paevey’s confession came on the heels of our sister site, Women’s World, ranking him in the top slot of their favorite Hallmark hunks. “Sadly, no word of a film,” the actor admitted to his social media followers in response to the listicle.

What’s more, Paevey made a major confession about his feelings toward the entertainment industry in general and revealed that he’s considering stepping back for a bit. “I may take 2024 off from filming unless the project is with friends,” he shared. “The last eight months of life in this industry have left a pretty bitter taste in my mouth, and I need some time away from a world so full of fake friends and empty promises. I’m weary.”

Naturally, his supporters were disappointed by the news. “Oh, it’s alright,” he replied. “I had a great run. I like my simple life in my shop, helping little bro, and frequent surfs. I have much to be grateful for. I’ll figure out a way to stay afloat without acting income. Who knows, maybe a film will come along.”

As longtime GH fans know, Paevey’s “shop” is where he works on his Fortunate Wanderer business of hand-crafted silver jewelry and apparel. Recently, he’s also been working — for free — at his brother’s restaurant as a waiter. “I’m helping my little brother out with a labor shortage that he’s got,” Paevey explained in late March in a series of Instagram Stories in which he clarified that he hasn’t quit acting to be a waiter. “I worked at restaurants for a million years before I ended up on TV. I don’t even keep the tips. The tips all go to the other employees.”

Between the restaurant and his shop, it sounds like Paevey is keeping plenty busy these days as he takes a break from acting to regroup mentally and professionally. But he hasn’t closed the door on acting for good, he insisted. “I mean, I’d like to think the powers that be know I’d happily do another film if they wanted me to,” he noted on Twitter. “But I just don’t know anymore. So, I’m just gonna do life, and make plans, and work… and whatever happens, happens.”

When the time comes that Paevey does return to the screen, Soaps In Depth will let you know!
