Soap Alum Ted King Cast on BLUE BLOODS!
It’s always fun when a much-missed former daytime star shows up on a hot primetime series — like soap veteran Ted King, who has been cast on an upcoming episode of BLUE BLOODS!
King first teased on social media on April 7 that he was in Brooklyn to work on a new role. “Returning to my roots,” he noted on Twitter/X. “Love shooting back in NYC.”
Initially, King didn’t divulge anything about the project, but he eventually gave more details about new job in a follow-up post on April 10. “A delightful week spent in NY with Mr. Tom Selleck and the cast and crew of BLUE BLOODS for CBS,” he wrote, sharing a posed photo from the set with Greg Jbara, Robert Clohessy, Selleck, and Abigail Hawk.
Over on Instagram, King continued to sing the praises of the cast, who are currently in their 14th and final season of the police procedural drama. “Great experience shooting BLUE BLOODS in New York. Solid cast and crew,” King confessed. “Now I know why the show has had tremendous longevity. Happy to have experienced their chemistry firsthand. Tom Selleck was a pleasure, and great to be with Greg Jbara again!”
The actor and Jbara worked together on the critically acclaimed feature film Oppenheimer. In fact, they both won a Screen Actor’s Guild Award in February when the movie was awarded the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture of 2023. (King played Senator Bob Bartlett while Jbara was Chairman Magnuson in the historical drama thriller.)
King’s love affair with New York began back in 1995 when he got his big break and was cast as Danny Roberts on LOVING and carried the character over to its spin-off, THE CITY. After starring in primetime shows like CHARMED and TIMECOP in the late ’90s, King returned to daytime in 2002, creating the characters of twins Luis and Lorenzo Alcazar on GENERAL HOSPITAL. In 2011, he moved over to ONE LIFE TO LIVE, playing Tomas Delgado for a year. His most recent soap stint was as Finn’s pop, Jack Finnegan, on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, in 2021, a role that garnered him the 2022 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer.
There’s no word yet when King’s episode of BLUE BLOODS will air on CBS, so check back with Soaps In Depth for updates!
