Soap Star Billy Miller Dead at 43

Tags:

Devastating news for soap fans. Emmy-winning daytime star Billy Miller has died at the age of 43. Michael Fairman TV is reporting that the actor died on Friday, Sept. 15, just days shy of his 44th birthday on Sept. 17. No information on a cause of death is available at this time.

Miller got his first big break playing Richie Novak on ALL MY CHILDREN back in August 2007, but the character’s run was short-lived and by September 2008, the actor had taken over as the latest recast of Billy Abbott on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. Before exiting the CBS soap in January 2014, Miller earned five Daytime Emmy Award nominations and took home the trophy for Supporting Actor in 2010 and 2013, as well as Lead Actor in 2014.

Miller then joined the cast of GENERAL HOSPITAL in the role of a recast Jason Morgan in October 2014 and earned himself another Outstanding Lead Actor Daytime Emmy nomination in 2018. And when Steve Burton returned in 2017 to reclaim the role of Jason, the soap then retconned Miller’s character to be his previously unknown twin brother, Drew Cain.

After leaving GH in 2019, Miller found success with roles in series like SUITS, and TRUTH BE TOLD, and appeared in episodes of shows like RAY DONOVAN, THE ROOKIE, and NCIS. During his career, the actor could also be seen in films like American Sniper and Bad Blood.

Our thoughts go out to Miller’s friends and family during this difficult time.
