GH’s Sofia Mattsson Reveals How She Perfected Her American Accent (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

Gorgeous GENERAL HOSPITAL star Sofia Mattsson (Sasha) has her big sister to thank for luring her to America and a life of high drama. “She came for a job as an actress,” Sasha’s portrayer said of Helena — who fans may recognize from her run as AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s Agnetha or as the lead alongside her sister in Lifetime’s My Husband’s Secret Wife. “I visited her a lot, saw her filming, and I thought it looked like so much fun and so amazing. Then I got a visa, came here and started modeling and acting.”

Before landing in Port Charles, however, Mattsson had to master speaking English without an accent. “I grew up in Sweden for most of my life,” she explained. “So I definitely had to work on it — a lot. I started off only playing Swedish and Russian trolls!” Now that Mattsson’s been in the United States for seven years, she’s got her American accent down pat. The secret to her success? “Speaking English and not hanging out with Swedish friends,” she laughed. “Just listening and practicing!”

Keep watching GH to hear her beautiful voice regularly!
