Steve Burton Clarifies His Contract Status at GENERAL HOSPITAL
Jason’s return to Port Charles has brought with it a ton of drama and excitement, as well as the mystery of where he’s been for the past years and what he’s really up to now. And along with that came the speculation and rumors about Steve Burton’s return to GENERAL HOSPITAL, particularly about how long it’s going to last!
During a recent episode of Burton and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) Daily Drama podcast, the actor recapped his first week of shows back at GH and shared some behind the scenes secrets. With Jason shot and injured, Burton didn’t want to reveal any upcoming twists and turns, though Anderson joked that it would be hilarious if the soap had brought Jason back only to kill him off a week later.
However, that did inspire Burton to mention the flurry of online speculation regarding his return and the storyline and squash one rumor in particular. “Because now that I’m back, on Facebook, all these GH fan groups or whatever… obviously, they’re going for clickbait,” he said. “Because nothing they’re posting is even remotely true. So we should dispel those on [this podcast].”
Obviously, the actor couldn’t confirm or deny any of the speculation regarding the storyline without spoiling what’s coming up, but he did want to warn people not to believe everything they read online, especially regarding his status with the soap. “They said that I only signed a three-month contract and that I’m dying,” Burton sighed. “That was one of the posts, was that it was only a three-month contract and I’m dying. So guess what? It’s a two-year contract and I’m not dying! You heard it here first!”
That’s great news for fans who are excited to have Jason back on the canvas and are in no hurry to see him go away again!
