When Jason returned from the dead on General Hospital, the residents of Port Charles had very mixed reactions to his resurrection. While Carly was overjoyed to have her BFF back, Sam was much less happy to see her ex again. And Jason’s sons, Danny and Jake, couldn’t be more different in their responses.

Danny was thrilled to be reunited with his father, much to his mother’s chagrin. “Sam’s not a fan of him hanging out with me,” Steve Burton (Jason) said in a recent episode of the Daily Drama podcast he does with pal Bradford Anderson (Spinelli). “It’s cool that they’re writing the kid looks up to me. Thank you for that. I mean, that’s nice.

“We do have things in common that I think will be more expressed coming up,” he added. “He’s a little bit of a danger guy. Likes to push the limits a little bit like Jason did. We’re trying to have this relationship. But, you know, he’s a teenager. And we’re navigating that.”

Jason is also navigating the fact that Sam wants Danny to have no contact with his father because she doesn’t want her son to be put in danger. Which is something Burton understands. “Logically, there is danger if I’m around,” he admitted. “So it’s either you see your son or you don’t. Or how do we navigate that to the best of our ability?”

Unfortunately, right now Jason doesn’t have the same issues with Jake, the son he shares with Liz. “He doesn’t want to see me,” Burton said with a laugh. “That’s way easier! I’m sure he wants to see me, but he’s not a fan right now. He’s not a fan. He’s a little angry. But that’s cool. He can be angry. He’s got some fire. It’s good.”

The mix of reactions to Jason’s return and how he re-establishes his relationships with his family and friends is proving to be fertile ground for drama. “It’s just been really intricate in how things are rolling out,” Burton enthused. “We already have the history of the characters there, but it’s just rolling out in such a way that it just provides so much meat in the story.”
