Steve Burton Shares Daytime Emmy Memories (EXCLUSIVE)
In 2017, Steve Burton walked away from the Daytime Emmys with a Supporting Actor win for his run as THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Dylan and a new agent who helped bring him and Jason back to GENERAL HOSPITAL. Talk about a win/win! The daytime vet appreciates the feeling of camaraderie and community at the annual event, but he admitted to Soaps In Depth that he really misses the good ol’ days, when the awards show was a big, televised to-do in New York City.
“I have great memories of going to Radio City Music Hall for the Emmys,” said Burton, who accepted his first win there back in 1998. “That was just iconic. They would shut down the streets of New York City and the streets were the red carpet — all the way from the Shera- ton [where dinner was held] to Radio City Music Hall. To be a part of soap operas back then, when Dick Clark was still [producing] the awards, was amazing. I think the fans relished those times as well.”
At this point, however, the stars and fans are just looking forward to being able to hold a star-studded gathering under one room for the Daytime Emmys again! And maybe next year the GH star can bring home Emmy number three!
