Wally Kurth Says Goodbye to Eddie Maine

Tags:

When Ned hit his head and believed himself to be “Eddie Maine” again on GENERAL HOSPITAL, a lot of fans were disappointed, mainly because Ned had been on his way to tell Drew the truth about Nina turning him in to the SEC when he had his accident! But for portrayer Wally Kurth, that run as “Eddie Maine” was a lot of fun and he was sad to see it come to an end with Ned’s return.

“Because Edie is probably more like Wally than anyone that I’ve ever played on the show,” Kurth confided to Soap Opera Digest. “So that was kind of fun, to just sort of be Wally. I got to stay unshaved and like Eddie, I can just sort of disappear into my own little world and not be fully engaged. I can disappear into the garage and just play music. I do that all the time!”

Playing “Eddie Maine” was a new experience for Kurth as the character is so different from Ned or Justin Kiriakis, his role on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. “Eddie was much more carefree and just, you know, about the art and about the music and definitely not about the corporate thing,” he explained. “That’s not what he was chasing. He was just trying to make art and using a different part of his brain. And that’s more like Wally than Justin or Ned.

“I will miss that because it was kind of fun,” Kurth concluded, “but I also realized that it was probably time to get back to Ned.”

Because as much drama as “Eddie Maine” brought to the Quartermaine family, Ned is the one who knows the truth about who got Carly and Drew arrested, and that’s a bomb fans have been waiting to see dropped for far too long!
