Walt Willey’s Special Message to GENERAL HOSPITAL Fans

Longtime fans of ABC Daytime — and especially the much-missed ALL MY CHILDREN — were thrilled to see Walt Willey back as Jackson Montgomery on GENERAL HOSPITAL, even for just a short run. After his debut in the July 12 episode, Willey will be back for two additional episodes scheduled to air on Monday, July 17, and Tuesday, July 18. And the reaction from viewers at seeing Jackson again after over a decade has been overwhelming for his portrayer.

“I am at a loss for words (a very rare condition in my case) over the outpouring of generous, kind, and supportive posts — here, in chatrooms, on GH’s social media — regarding my GH debut,” Willey tweeted. “In a word: Wow!”

Stepping back into Jackson’s shoes after 12 years proved easier than it would seem thanks to the cast and crew of GH. “I have never felt more welcomed or looked after or taken care of and people seemed genuinely excited that I was there,” Willey said during an interview with ABC Eyewitness News 11. “And [executive producer] Frank Valentini’s put together — as far as I’m concerned, in the couple of days I worked there, at least — a terrific crew, a terrific cast, that can do quality product at this pace.” 

Having experienced the loyalty of soap fans during his 24 years on AMC, Willey was touched to still be remembered now. “I cannot thank you all enough for loving and caring for me and ‘Jackson’ for almost 25 years on (and off!) AMC to the point where, 12 years after AMC went dark, ‘Jackson’ — and his portrayer — still have legs,” he tweeted. “I’ve said it more than once but it bears saying again — soap fans are the greatest fans of all! Thank you so much!”

So make sure you catch Willey’s additional episodes to see him wrap up his too-brief run on GH. And who knows, perhaps in the future he’ll pay another visit to the soap… and this time come to Port Charles!
