Watch Johnny Wactor Chase a Tornado in a Thrilling New Film!

It’s been just a few weeks since Johnny Wactor exited GENERAL HOSPITAL when poor Brando was killed by The Hook — but fans can soon see the talented actor in a thrilling new movie! Wactor is one of the cast members in Supercell, an upcoming epic disaster action film that will premiere this weekend at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California!

Written and directed by Wactor’s buddy, Jamie Winterstern, Supercell stars Alec Baldwin and the late Anne Heche (Vicky/Marley, ANOTHER WORLD) in her last movie role. And from what Winterstern had to say about the movie on Instagram, the concept for the movie was born during a real-life severe weather outing with the former GH star.

“Three years ago, I went storm chasing with Johnny, and it dawned on me that we haven’t had a movie like Twister since, well Twister,” the filmmaker shared. “So Anna Elizabeth James and I wrote a script, but if I was going to direct this as my first feature, I needed to create something else.”

The aspiring director’s next step was to return to the “tornado alley” area of Oklahoma to film some footage that he could then use in a proof of concept, which is a short film to show potential investors what the final movie would be like. With a digital camera in hand and some assistance from Tempest Tours (a storm-chasing expedition company) and real-life storm tracker Val Castor (a meteorologist from KWTV News 9 in Oklahoma), Winterstern got some incredible footage of Wactor that he could use to pitch the film. “Everything in camera is real,” the director said of the scary storm conditions that engulf Wactor’s character in the two-minute video.

Supercell filmed in May and June of 2021 in Georgia and Montana. The movie follows William, a teenager who wants to follow in the footsteps of his late father Bill Brody, a legendary storm chaser who was killed by a massive super tornado. Bill’s legacy has now become a tourist business run by Baldwin’s character, greedy businessman Zane Rogers. When William takes the lead on a tornado chase with his dad’s best friend, Zane spots a lucrative money-making op and uses William as a tourist attraction to push the adventure-seekers into the most dangerous supercell storm ever seen. In addition to Baldwin, Daniel Demer stars in Supercell as William, Heche plays his grieving mom, Quinn, Skeet Ulrich plays Bill’s best friend, Roy, and Wactor plays Martin.

The movie will have its first public screening on Sunday, Oct. 16, at the Newport Beach Film Fest, “and I couldn’t be more grateful,” confessed Winterstern. “If you can make it out on Sunday, please join me, Johnny, and some of our cast for the film and Q&A.”
