Where Is Taggert on GH? — Réal Andrews Speaks Out

Tags:

It’s been months since Taggert has been seen on GENERAL HOSPITAL and fans have been wondering where he is and what he’s been doing in the wake of learning that he isn’t Trina’s biological father after all. Well, portrayer Réal Andrews took to social media to share a selfie video where he addressed their concerns.

“I know I’ve been getting a lot of champions asking me about GH,” he admitted. “Once again guys, it’s like… the way I look at it… I’m like clean up. You know, in baseball. You call me up to bat and I’m gonna come up and I’m gonna hit a home run for you.”

Andrews first joined the cast of GH back in December 1996 and remained with the soap until 2003 (although the role was recast in 1997 with Matthew St. Patrick for a bit). The actor reprised his role in January 2020 only for Taggert to meet a tragic end in March of that year! Thankfully, reports of his death were greatly exaggerated, and he was back on screen by August.

Familiar with the comings and goings of daytime dramas, Andrews assured fans he wasn’t bothered by the irregular schedule. “I cannot be and I have no desire to be concerned about, you know, when I’m working or why I’m not working or why I’m working or whatever,” he declared. “All I can control is what I can control and that’s when I am called, I’m ready and I show up with excellence.”

Although Taggert put on a brave face when he learned the heartbreaking news that Trina wasn’t his daughter, he later privately broke down in a hospital elevator. The last time the character was seen was on April 19, 2023, when he met with Trina at Kelly’s where she opened up about Curtis’ shooting and her fears of losing the father she’d just met. Again, Taggert donned his mask and reassured Trina, but as soon as she’d left the diner, he poured liquor out of a flask and into his coffee.

“I think we’d all agree the last stuff I did is… if that’s the last thing I ever do on GH, it was a great way to go out,” Andrews concluded his video. “Great way. You know, stuff I’m very, very proud of.”

There’s clearly more to Taggert’s story that needs to be told. The only question is when Andrews will be called upon to tell it. Keep checking back here at SoapsInDepth.com for future updates!
