Why Kelly Thiebaud Couldn’t Return to Work at GH This Week

Tags:

Following GENERAL HOSPITAL’s spring hiatus this month, Kelly Thiebaud (Britt) was prepared and ready to dive back into her character’s storyline. Her scripts were memorized, she knew how she wanted to play her scenes, and she was itching to return to the GH set earlier this week. Unfortunately, her plans were derailed due to “unfortunate circumstances,” leaving her feeling frustrated and in a “negative headspace.”

While taking a walk with her beloved dog, Whiskey, Thiebaud posted a series of Instagram stories, explaining her predicament. “I’m just having a hard time letting it go,” she explained. “I was supposed to start back at work this week, and I had to do two [COVID] tests leading up to going back to work. One test came back negative, the second test came back positive.”

The actress went on to explain that even though she hadn’t been anywhere or done anything during the hiatus, and knew that she wasn’t ill with COVID, she found herself caught between a rock and a hard place. “Due to L.A. County’s rules, they wouldn’t let me retest to prove that I don’t have COVID,” she shared, referring to the Department of Public Health’s protocol for music, television, and film production. “And basically, I’m not allowed to work for 10 days. There’s nothing I can do to change that, and that’s really frustrating.”

Thiebaud even had two tests come back with negative results since that false-positive test, but her hands are still tied. “I feel like I’m being punished for something I didn’t do,” she lamented. “And I put in so much work and effort to prepare for my scenes. I had so much to shoot yesterday, and it’s really frustrating that I’m in this situation. I was really looking forward to going back.”

It’s unclear how GH will handle Thiebaud’s forced absence over the next week. If they are unable to shoot around Britt’s scenes, they could temporarily recast as they did when Tiffany Daniels filled in as Jordan after Briana Nicole Henry came down with the coronavirus. But the actress is attempting to look on the bright side. “I am trying to see the silver lining in this situation. Don’t know if there is one,” she sighed in conclusion, before posting in her next slide that she was at least looking forward to spending her days with her beloved dog.
