Will Jackson Montgomery Return to GH? — Walt Willey Speaks Out!
Longtime ABC Daytime fans were excited to see Walt Willey reprise his role of Jackson Montgomery on GENERAL HOSPITAL, even if it was just for a few episodes. “Just a reminder that I’ll be hangin’ with the Port Charles crew today,” the actor tweeted on July 18. “For the last time, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed! This has been such a fun ride, and again, I thank you for your support and enthusiasm!”
The GH storyline saw Lucy and Felicia traveling to Pine Valley in search of answers about what Martin was hiding and hoping to find them in the law offices of Jackson Montgomery, Willey’s fan-favorite character from ALL MY CHILDREN. While Lucy distracted the attorney with her charms, Felicia broke into his office and got a peek at Martin’s file in the safe.
The pair got arrested, but a call to Anna helped convince Jackson to drop the charges. Still, the guy placed a call at the end of the episode warning someone that Lucy Coe and a private investigator were snooping around asking questions about Martin and Maquillage (French for makeup). So there’s clearly more to tell with this story… the question is, will Jackson be a part of it?
“Once again, I must begin by expressing my heartfelt gratitude to all of you,” Willey tweeted after his first episode of GH aired. “Over the past couple days I have found myself touched and a bit teary-eyed reading through your posts and comments — literally thousands of them! — regarding my visit to GH.”
While the SAG-AFTRA strike doesn’t affect daytime dramas because soap actors work under a different contract, the writers’ strike has affected the soaps and forced them to hire non-union writers to keep the stories flowing.
“At this point, in the midst of all this upset, I think it’s very unlikely that GH will be offering me a more regular place in the cast — if they’re even considering that — anytime soon,” Willey admitted. “And that’s as it should be… they have bigger fish to fry right now!
“But hang in there!” he added. “Please keep letting TPTB at GH know your feelings, lest they forget! As for me, I would be honored to rejoin my ABC Daytime family! And that family includes you!”
