Making the upcoming road-trip drama Bleeding Love was a family affair — and not just for the film’s stars, Ewan McGregor and his daughter Clara McGregor. Soap vet Kim Zimmer (Reva, GUIDING LIGHT; Echo, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) and her son, Jake Weary (Luke, AS THE WORLD TURNS), also appear in the film, which was written by Weary’s wife, actress Vera Bulder!

The compelling drama stars the McGregors as an estranged father and daughter who embark on an impromptu road trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico, after a drastic incident in the young woman’s life. Along the way, they meet all types of strangers as their strained relationship is put to the test, forcing them to confront their issues and hopefully bring them closer together again.

Weary appears in the film as Kip, the daughter’s love interest, while Zimmer can be seen as a character named Elsie. Directed by Emma Westenberg, Bleeding Love was written by Ruby Caster, who constructed the story along with Clara and Bulder. (Zimmer’s daughter-in-law also has a role in the movie and shares a producing credit.) “So thrilled for this beautiful film that I was lucky enough to be a part of with so many truly wonderful people,” Zimmer gushed on Instagram.

Zimmer first announced her role in the film last year, when the movie (then titled You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder) was accepted into the SXSW Film Festival. “I have a small but juicy role in it and get to share the screen with Ewan McGregor and Clara McGregor!” she wrote. “Oh yes, my son Jake Weary and Vera Bulder are in it too! Congrats team!”

As the movie explores themes of addiction, complicated family dynamics, and redemption, Westenberg promises that Bleeding Love “is a story about keeping an open heart for the people close to you, and the people you encounter along the way.”

Ahead of the film’s release in select theaters and on demand Friday, February 16, Zimmer and Weary are scheduled to appear live on the YouTube show The Locher Room on Thursday, February 15, at 12:30 EST to chat with host Alan Locher about their experience on the film!
