Eva LaRue’s Special Tribute to John Callahan

Tags:

A year and a half after ALL MY CHILDREN star John Callahan (Edmund) passed away at the age of 66, his ex-wife and former co-star, Eva LaRue (Maria), and the couple’s daughter, Kaya Callahan, paid tribute to the late Yankees fan in the coolest way possible. On Sept. 17, LaRue and her daughter visited Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, to scatter some of Callahan’s ashes on the pitcher’s mound.

“Perfect day!” LaRue, who also played THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ Celeste, wrote in a touching Instagram post. “Celebrating John in the way he would love! Left a tiny bit of him on the same Yankee mound he pitched from on the Hollywood All-Star team in a charity game at the original Yankee Stadium in 1994. (Now a park with the original diamond intact!)”

That community park at the site of the former stadium grounds is less than a mile from the new stadium where the New York Yankees play. So after LaRue and Kaya sprinkled some ashes on the pitcher’s mound at Elston Gene Howard Field (named for the former Yankees MVP and coach), the ladies joined a group of Callahan’s friends and family to watch his beloved Yanks take on the Cleveland Indians. “I know to my core he is beaming from above!” LaRue wrote of the day she hashtagged as “pitch perfect.”
