Bobbie Eakes Shares Her Favorite Memory From ALL MY CHILDREN

Although perhaps better known for playing Macy Alexander on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, Bobbie Eakes also had a successful run as Krystal Carey on ALL MY CHILDREN from 2003-11. And while her work on the ABC sudser netted the actress two Daytime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress, that’s not her favorite memory of her time in Pine Valley.

“I was thrilled to get the two Emmy nominations,” Eakes confided to Soap Opera Digest, “but the biggest compliment or accolade was one day on the set when I was pretty new. I was doing this comic scene and I didn’t know it, but Carol Burnett was in the wings.”

The show-biz legend is famously a huge fan of AMC and first appeared as Verla Grubbs, the long-lost daughter of Langley Wallingford, beginning back in 1983. Burnett made occasional appearances as Verla for the soap’s anniversary episodes and even returned in 2001 as the beloved daytime drama was wrapping its run on ABC.

“She was visiting,” Eakes explained, “and there were a few of us actors on the set and when she came out with the producers, we all stood in a receiving line. She went down the line to say hello to everybody and when she got to me, I was like, the second-to-last person in line.

“The only thing she said to any of us besides ‘hello’ was to me,” she continued, “and she said, ‘You are such a great addition to the show.’ I almost died. I was so tongue-tied, but I am going to take that with me to the grave as one of the highest compliments as an actor. I really wish I could meet her again and tell her how much that meant to me.”
