Susan Lucci Shares an Update on the AMC Reboot, PINE VALLEY
It has been over a year since news first broke that a primetime reboot of ALL MY CHILDREN titled PINE VALLEY was in development, so it’s understandable if some fans may have given up hope of ever seeing the series on TV. But Susan Lucci (Erica) told People that although things have slowed down, development hasn’t stopped yet!
“There has been movement,” she reported. “I wish it was a quicker movement, but yes, everything in terms of being in the right hands, as far as I know, would be in place. It’s really interesting and the concept is so good. It’s in the right hands [with] Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and her husband, Mark Consuelos (Mateo), who are both so terrific. They would be executive producers, so I’m really hoping that this is going to actually go forward.”
Lucci, who starred as the legendary Erica Kane from 1970 until AMC’s final episode in 2013, is just one of the veteran actors from the much-missed soap who could be tapped to reprise their role in PINE VALLEY. Eva LaRue (Maria) has also spoken about the show, and as the primetime series would center around a reporter getting caught up in the drama between the Kane and Santos families, Erica and Maria are obvious choices for legacy characters to bring back.
Unfortunately, these days, producers have to deal with a lot more than just the usual Hollywood headaches. “COVID is in play again, and things have slowed down,” Lucci offered by way of an explanation.
However, we’re sure that many AMC fans feel the same as us and we’re happy to wait as long as we have to in order to see our favorite Pine Valley residents again. The ABC sudser went off the air nearly 10 years ago, so what’s one more year before we get it back?
