Three Soap Vets Get Ready to Deck the Halls!

It’s nearly the end of October — which means in the world of television programming, it’s just about time for this year’s batch of new Christmas movies! And one of the holiday films offered by Hulu this year has ties to not one, not two, but three former daytime stars. On Wednesday, November 1, the streaming service will debut A Christmas Frequency, starring James Hyde (ex-Jeremy, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) and Denise Richards (ex-Shauna, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL), and directed by Lindsay Hartley (ex-Arianna, DAYS OF OUR LIVES).

Richards headlines the film as Brooke, the host of a struggling morning radio show who has secretly separated from her husband, Hyde’s Todd. In a last-ditch effort to boost their show’s ratings, producer Kenzie (played by the movie’s writer, Ansley Gordon) sets Brooke up in a series of live on-air blind dates to find someone to take to the company’s Christmas party. Things get complicated when Kenzie accidentally falls for one of Brooke’s contenders, and Todd makes a play to win back his estranged wife.

Formerly titled Christmas on Air, production on A Christmas Frequency took place back in mid-May, reuniting former PASSIONS co-stars Hartley and Hyde. (She played Theresa; he was Sam.) At the time, Hartley — who has also appeared on soaps as a fill-in Sam on GENERAL HOSPITAL and as ALL MY CHILDREN’s Cara — teased the romcom on social media by posting a photo of her, Hyde, and Richards on the set. “Merry Christmas with these two wonderful and talented people,” Hartley wrote. “Thank you for bringing the magic to Christmas on Air.”

On Oct. 11, Hyde shared the film’s festive poster, confessing that he “had an amazing time shooting this.” The actor also thanked producer Richard Switzer as well as Hartley “for directing another great movie!”

A Christmas Frequency is produced by Nicely Entertainment. “Denise Richards is well-known to audiences across the U.S. for her role on REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS and B&B,” the company’s founder and CEO, Vanessa Shapiro, told Variety. “It has been a pleasure to work with her on A Christmas Frequency, a holiday romance about authenticity and misunderstandings.”

In addition to streaming on Hulu, A Christmas Frequency will be available on Apple, Vudu, Amazon, and GooglePlay. Before you queue up the charming film on Nov. 1, you can watch the trailer below!
