Soap Vet Vincent Irizarry Undergoing Emergency Brain Surgery

Tags:

Please join us in sending good thoughts and healing vibes to daytime veteran Vincent Irizarry, who is having emergency head surgery this morning to relieve fluid on his brain. The actor — familiar to soap audiences for his roles as GUIDING LIGHT‘s Lujack and Nick, ALL MY CHILDREN‘s David, DAYS OF OUR LIVES’ Deimos, and THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’ David, among others — unfortunately sustained a head injury several months ago that led to the medical crisis. In an emotional post shared on social media, his girlfriend, Yvonne Glisson, explained how trying to be a Good Samaritan led to Irizarry requiring an operation.

“I need to share some sad news about sweet Vincent and ask for prayers,” she wrote in her emotional post. “Back in December, Vincent was walking out [of] a restaurant/bar and witnessed a man being volatile to his wife in the parking lot. He went right over to intervene and calm the man down, and instead was then violently hit to the ground himself.”

As a result of the fall, Irizarry hit his head on the ground, “suffering multiple bruises and a serious head gash and concussion, resulting in fluid to his brain,” Glisson explained, adding that the man beat his wife unconscious. “Vincent was rushed to the ER and had to be treated for his head wound, injuries, and [have] tests run.”

Over the past three months, the fluid buildup in his brain as a result of the head trauma has “increased substantially” noted Glisson, leading to Irizarry needing emergency head surgery. “To all his fans, friends, followers, and prayer warriors out there, please, please, please send Vincent positive vibes, and please keep him in your prayers at this time. Say a special one for his surgeon and a successful procedure and speedy recovery.”

We do hope that all goes well and that Irizarry’s surgery is a success. Stay tuned to SoapsInDepth.com for updates on his recovery.
