Eileen Davidson Says an Emotional Goodbye to THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS

Tags:

Ever since Eileen Davidson confirmed her decision to leave THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS where she has played Ashley Abbott for almost three decades, fans have been dreading the day when her final episode would air. And it looks like that day is coming up sooner than anyone would like because the actress has shared a quick video of herself walking through the parking lot of the CBS studio where Y&R tapes. “Wow,” she can be heard narrating. “So here’s the countdown. I’m leaving this place in four days.”

Saddest countdown… 😔 #youngandrestless #4moredays

Panning around the parking lot, Davidson caught some people on a balcony above her, sitting at a table. “There’s some of our crew people up there,” she noted. God love them.” As she continues into the building, she added: “The first time I walked in here, I was not even 23 years old. How crazy is that?”

As she entered through the Carol Burnett Artist Entrance, Davidson sighed: “Okay, four more days. Love this place… changed my life. In every single way. I met my husband here, too! Wow.”

On day three of her “sad countdown,” Davidson panned the camera around the inside of the studio, noting the location where THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL tapes as well as THE PRICE IS RIGHT. And she also recalled how her son, Jesse, learned to crawl right in that spot! “He crawled for the first time in this dressing room,” she noted, “which was my room in the ‘80s and the 2000’s. He came with me every day until he was like, three. Isn’t that amazing? I was so lucky. Every day he was here with me.”

With just two days left, she took her camera around backstage to show off where all the props are kept for not only the soaps but also the news and talk shows. And in the second video posted that day, she showed off what the Y&R set really looks like behind the scenes with the bar of the GCAC right up against someone’s bed on a neighboring set. And at the end of that clip, she asked Bobby, a crew member, to say hi, and he responded: “Hi. And I’m not gonna say bye, because you’re gonna be back!” Davidson just laughed and teased, “You never know.” In the final video, she shows what it’s like to walk down the hall from the entrance to the studio with all the photos of the various CBS shows on the walls.

On her last day, Davidson took a quick video as she went onto the set for the last scene with her on-screen family, Beth Maitland (Traci), Peter Bergman (Jack), Jason Thompson (Billy), Melissa Ordway (Abby), and Michael Mealor (Kyle). “I’m heading on set to do my last scene with the Abbott family,” she narrated. “Not my last scene of the show, but my last scene with my Abbott family. I love them.”

As she panned around her co-stars and explained she was just taking a quick goodbye video, Ordway piped up to suggest: “It’s not too late, Eileen.”

Davidson not only played Ashley on Y&R, but she also brought the character over to sister soap B&B for a time. In addition, she played Kristen DiMera as well as her look-alikes Susan Banks, Sister Mary Moira, Thomas, and Penelope over on DAYS OF OUR LIVES. And at some times, the actress appeared on both Y&R and DAYS at the same time! On top of that, Davidson had also been appearing on the Bravo reality series THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF BEVERLY HILLS, so it’s no wonder that she wants to take some time off and enjoy more time with her family.

With Davidson preparing to tape her final episode of Y&R at the end of September, it’s likely she’ll air well into October. But after that? There’s no telling what the future holds.
