Kassie DePaiva Announces She’s Cancer Free!

On World Cancer Day, Kassie DePaiva shared the absolutely wonderful news that she is now cancer free!

The actress, best known as ONE LIFE TO LIVE’s Blair, but more recently as Eve on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, shared her news on Twitter, declaring, “Today is World Cancer Day, and I’m grateful I can say I am cancer free. To all of you who battle cancer… fight on! Trust the journey!

Back in August of 2016, DePaiva announced that she had been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, but at the time, assured fans her prognosis was good and considered this “just a bump in the road.”

Her friends and co-stars were quick to respond to the fantastic news online. “Thank God!” tweeted Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS). “So happy to hear that!”

Daniel Cosgrove (Aiden, DAYS) shared, “Wonderful news! Beautiful! You are light and positivity! Sending the best to you and your family! Whoohoo!”

DAYS castmate Lauren Koslow (Kate) posted, “That’s the best kind of news! So happy for you and your family, Kassie!”

And on National Cancer Day, DePaiva received a special video message from her on-screen adopted son, Patrick Gibbons Jr. (Sam, OLTL). “Hey, Kassie,” the young man said. “Hope you’re feeling better on National Cancer Day. I’m thinking about you.”

Later, upon seeing DePaiva’s tweet with the big news, Gibbons replied, “So happy you’re doing well, Mama Bear!”

DePaiva’s former OLTL castmate Eddie Alderson (Matthew) is also battling cancer, and after he recently shared that his treatments were going well, we’re hoping he’ll join her in being cancer free very soon.
