Daytime alums Michael Park (Jack, AS THE WORLD TURNS) and Kristolyn Lloyd (ex-Dayzee, THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL) are currently starring in the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen, and they joined their castmates to perform on TODAY!
As part of the NBC morning show’s “Best of Broadway” week, co-host Hoda Kotb introduced the show’s star, Ben Platt, to perform the closing number from the first act, “You Will Be Found.” After the first verse, Lloyd joins Platt, followed quickly by the rest of the cast. You can watch the powerful performance in the video below.
Dear Evan Hansen tells the story of a high school senior with social anxiety disorder who finds himself caught up in the drama surrounding the suicide of his classmate, Connor. Park plays Larry Murphy, Connor’s dad, who finds himself becoming a father figure to Evan. The ATWT star played the character in the original Arena Stage production in Washington D.C. in 2015 and reprised the role when the show moved to Broadway in 2016. “I’m grateful to be a part of this wonderfully intelligent, important piece with a cast that inspires me every night,” Park shared on Twitter.
Lloyd portrays Alana Beck, an ambitious classmate of Evan’s who is the closest thing he has to a real friend. Although she never knew Connor, his death affects Alana and she helps Evan create The Connor Project to keep his memory alive. Lloyd took over the role for the Off-Broadway run in early 2016, and continued on when the musical made its Broadway debut in the fall.
Dear Evan Hansen has won numerous awards for the original Washington D.C. production as well as the Off-Broadway run, and will likely pick up some Tony nominations when they are announced in May.
