When Max Ehrich attended the daytime Emmys last year, he’d only just joined the cast of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS as Michael and Lauren’s troubled son, Fenmore. This year, when he walks down the red carpet, he’ll be doing it as a nominee for Outstanding Younger Actor!
Ehrich says he’s still pinching himself over his good fortune. “I was shocked,” he says of the morning when the Emmy nominations was announced. “My phone kept buzzing, and I thought it was one of my friends from the East Coast calling me because they forget that I’m three hours behind. But when I hear the news, I felt like I’d been electrocuted a surge of energy that went down my spine! It was so early, but I felt like I’d drank 10 shots of espresso. I cried! It was in a complete state of shock. It was so cool!”
While the actor says that he tends to be a superstitious sort, he isn’t planning on any good luck rituals for the big night. “The winner is already chosen, so there’s not anything you can do,” he grins. “I was just hoping to be nominated. That’s enough. I saw everybody’s reel, and I’m just so honored to be with those three guys. They had some amazing work.
“It was my first year on the show, and first year to be eligible to be nominated that’s really enough,” he adds. “I know this sounds so cliché, but we’re all winners. I have no expectation for the outcome. I see the whole thing as a celebration of daytime. It’ll be a great party!”
The daytime Emmys will be broadcast on HLN this Sunday, June 16, at 8:00 pm EST.
