Rena Sofer Proves It’s Never Too Late to Follow Your Dreams

Viewers haven’t seen a lot of Quinn lately on THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL, but her portrayer has been busy learning something she’s always wanted to do! Rena Sofer showed off some of her new homemade creations and hoped to inspire other people to follow their dreams no matter what they may fear stands in their way. “So I started this new journey in my life,” the actress revealed on Instagram. “I have always loved woodworking and have been an amateur wood geek for many years. I never fully learned how to do really make things ‘correctly’ but as a ‘wing it’ woodworker I have done okay.
“As my 50th birthday fast approaches I have been thinking about my life,” Sofer continued. “What am I doing? What am I here for? What inspires me? What do I still want to learn and achieve? One thing that really hit me hard was I love to work with wood. I have always had a passion for interesting wood furniture and art pieces. I never thought I could really do it. I was simply scared. Of what? I don’t really know.”

Interestingly, Sofer found inspiration very close to home — in her own children, Avalon, Meghann, and Rosabel. “I looked to my daughters and saw how incredibly artistic they are and in so many different ways,” she explained. “I felt inspired by them and thought I can’t stop myself anymore. Maybe that’s what turning 50 is all about! Maybe that’s what it’s about for me.
“I have another — hopefully — half a life ahead of me so I want to accomplish something now that feeds my soul. I raised — and am still raising — amazing girls, women, and now it’s time for me. Lots of learning ahead of me and I’m so excited.”

Sofer used her Instagram to post photos of her first projects she created and her pride shone through. “Here are my first cutting boards and woodturning bowls,” she shared. “And I had the time of my life making them! I will share more in the future and I hope I can inspire those out there who think, ‘I can’t do this’ or ‘I’m too old to start’ to get out there, like me, and discover what you love. What scares you. And face it head on.”
That’s some beautiful work, and we look forward to seeing more creations in the future. The sky’s the limit, as Sofer herself has proven! For more on your favorite B&B stars, keep reading the CBS edition of Soaps In Depth magazine!
