THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS’s Kate Linder Returns as Grand Marshal of the Walk to End Lupus Now LA

Tags:

Actress Kate Linder (Esther, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) has been named Grand Marshal of the Walk to End Lupus Now Los Angeles for the second year in a row. “It’s incredible to see the power of the Los Angeles community at the Walk to End Lupus Now and I’m excited to be back as Grand Marshal for the second year,” she said in a statement. “My sister-in-law was diagnosed with lupus 19 years ago, and I know how important it is to support our lupus warriors. I’m looking forward to walking, fundraising, and raising lupus awareness alongside each walker — each participant plays an important role in supporting our community and raising critical funds for lupus research so that we can develop better treatments and find a cure.”

This year’s Walk to End Lupus Now Los Angeles will be held on Saturday, Sept. 28 at L.A. Live. Linder will be leading the event festivities beginning at 6 p.m. and will then participate in the walk scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.. Lupus has no known cause, but affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans and five million people worldwide. It is an autoimmune disease that ravages different parts of the body, but is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are so varied. It is also challenging to treat, as the effects can range from a skin rash to a heart attack.

Linder has long used her celebrity to lend support to various charitable causes, including holding her annual charity teas to benefit the March of Dimes Canada’s Conductive Education program.
