Michelle Stafford Relives Some of Phyllis’ Most Memorable Moments on Y&R
To welcome her back to Genoa City, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS sat Michelle Stafford down to take a look at some classic clips from her time as Phyllis on the soap. Sitting on the Society set in front of a tablet, the actress fired up the videos, admitting, “I honestly have no idea what’s in here, so you will be as surprised as I am.”
The first clip to play was a shot of Michael Damian as Danny Romalotti and Stafford was immediately floored to realize that this was her very first day on the soap. As Phyllis spoke to Danny over the phone about their son, Stafford chuckled with glee at how manipulative her character was. “It makes me all teary eyed,” she confessed. The next scene was Phyllis introducing herself to Christine, and Stafford laughed at how high her hair was in the episode. “Just so you know, I was very nervous,” she admitted. “All of these scenes, I was like, inside… freaking out. I was so nervous.”

Then she watched when Nick showed up at Phyllis’ door and they kissed passionately before making love. “We were really in it, he and I,” Stafford recalled of the scene. “I remember at one point, because he and I always joked with each other, I said, ‘Dude, we’ve gotta really commit to this.’ And we did.” This was followed by Phyllis interrupting her lunch at the roadhouse in New Mexico with Nick to hit the dance floor. “Phyllis apparently is a great line dancer,” Stafford laughed. “Who would’ve known?”
Last up was the location shoot in Paris where Phyllis happens upon her husband, Nick, sharing a romantic kiss with ex-wife Sharon. “I loved that beret,” Stafford said of her wardrobe. “And that scene, they cut it out because we were long, but I was supposed to run away and the beret falls off my head. And I really felt like that was symbolic of her shattered experience in Paris and now her life is shattered with him going back to his ex-wife.”
