THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS Alum Michael Damian Previews His New Movie, High Strung
Two years of hard work is about to pay off for filmmakers Michael Damian (ex-Danny, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) and Janeen Damian. Their dazzling new film, High Strung, hits US theaters nationwide on Friday, April 8!
In the movie, directed by Michael and co-written by the couple, a midwestern dancer on scholarship to a New York performing arts school crosses paths with a brooding British virtuoso violinist who’s struggling to make ends meet. Joining forces with a local dance crew from the streets, they combine their skills to enter a contest with the potential to change their lives.
“We had 50 musicians and more than 65 dancers from around the world,” Damian reveals of the movie choreographed by Dave Scott (SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE). “And it includes several genres: ballet, hip hop, contemporary, tango, tap, and Irish step dance.”
The picture, which debuted recently at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, combines the personal passions of its producers in a way that they hope will inspire. “It’s a movie for adults and kids,” Damian says, adding that a sequel is already in the works. “We hope that young people see that hard work, perseverance, staying true to yourself and treating people with respect along your journey will take you somewhere wonderful.”
