Daytime alum Gina Tognoni shared a heartfelt birthday message to her beloved husband, Joe Chiarello, on social media. The video, set to the 2021 song “Joey Ramone” by The Kens, features a selection of photos of the birthday boy through the years, from adorable childhood snapshots all the way up to the present day.
“Happy birthday to my beautiful Joe!” Tognoni wrote. “You are so loved by us all. Thank you for being in our lives. We celebrate you today on your special day. You are one in a million!”
Tognoni is beloved by soap fans for her work as Kelly Cramer on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, Dinah Marler on GUIDING LIGHT, and Phyllis Summers on THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS. And during her illustrious career, the actress took home three Daytime Emmy Awards for her outstanding performances — two in the Supporting Actress category for her work on GL and one for Lead Actress when she was on Y&R.
Tognoni has a friend and former GL castmate to thank for introducing her to her beau. “We met through Beth Ehlers (Harley), who is a friend of his sisters,” she told Soaps In Depth back in 2007 when she announced her engagement to Chiarello. “He courted me for 18 months and popped the question the day before Thanksgiving. His timing was perfect, and I’m just thrilled with this blessing.”
