Y&R Sets Date For Katherine’s Memorial
This week, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS began dealing with the passing of Jeanne Cooper by writing in the death of her Genoa City alter ego, Katherine. And if you thought you needed tissues already, make sure you stock up for the special two-part memorial service scheduled to air Tuesday, September 3 and Wednesday, September 4.
Cooper’s real life son, Corbin Bernsen, will be reprising his role of Father Todd to preside over the service. Also, old friends and family will be returning for the memorial, including Lauralee Bell (Christine), Tricia Cast (Nina), Beau Kazer (Brock), Adrienne Frantz (Amber), Patty Weaver (Gina) and Michael Damian (Danny). Damian will perform “That’s When I’ll Stop Loving You,” which aired previously in the tribute episode in May.
“It’s time for the characters of Genoa City to say their goodbyes to Katherine, and while it’s heartbreaking for everyone involved, we hope our viewers will find it a fitting tribute to both an irreplaceable character and the amazing woman who portrayed her,” said Y&R Executive Producer Jill Farren Phelps. “Katherine had some final surprises up her sleeve that will be revealed at the service and we think everyone will come away with smiles on their faces.”
Beginning today, fans can visit a special Web site set up by CBS to see the postcards that the residents of Genoa City recently received as well as Katherine’s obituary. They can also view the final scene from today’s episode of Y&R.
