Chrishell Stause Shares Her Dog’s Cancer Battle

Tags:

Anyone who follows daytime alum Chrishell Stause (ex-Jordan, DAYS OF OUR LIVES; Amanda, ALL MY CHILDREN) on social media knows just how much she loves her sweet pooch, Gracie. So the actress has an extra reason to be thankful this Thanksgiving, as Gracie is on the mend following a bout with canine cancer!

“Cause for celebration for Gracie!” the recent DANCING WITH THE STARS contestant said. “If you noticed a cone on her a few months ago, it’s because she had to have two cancer masses removed surgically.”

Stause went on to explain that her dog was diagnosed with carcinoma, a cancer so aggressive that Gracie had to undergo chemotherapy following the surgery. “After finishing her eight successful rounds, she is stronger and as playful as ever!” Stause exclaimed, thanking Gracie’s vet for their help as well as Burbank Animal Shelter, “where I found my puppy soulmate.”

The entire ordeal was so scary for Stause that she never even mentioned it on social media! “Dealing with this the last few months was something I kept private because I was too scared to think about what it might mean,” confessed the actress, who lost both of her parents to cancer. “But seeing her bounce back after treatment makes me want to remind you — if you feel lumps and bumps on your dog, go get them looked at! One vet told me it was probably nothing, but after noticing it getting bigger, I sought a second opinion, and thank God I did. She wouldn’t have had long with this aggressive type of cancer if left untreated.”

In an additional video she posted to Instagram, Stause cradled Gracie and confessed, “She is in, I guess you call it remission, just like people. But she is done with her chemo!”

We are so glad to hear that sweet Gracie has that pep back in her step!
