DAYS OF OUR LIVES Introduces Young Tom and Alice Horton!
Viewers may be upset that the beloved Horton family home burned down on DAYS OF OUR LIVES, but the soap is planning to celebrate its storied history with a special episode premiering on Wednesday, Feb. 21. In it, fans will enjoy seeing Tom and Alice Horton again, although with new actors playing the roles in specially-created flashback scenes.
The Horton patriarch and matriarch were beloved by DAYS fans as played by the late Macdonald Carey and Frances Reid. And now the iconic characters will be brought to life by the young actors Sydney K. Smith and Zach Chyz, as first reported by Soap Opera Digest. Smith, who will be playing Alice, has appeared in short films and an episode of THE GOES WRONG SHOW. Tom’s portrayer, Chyz, can be seen in movies like Art of the Dead and series like BULL, FBI, WELCOME TO CHIPPENDALES, and THE ROOKIE.
The Horton family has long been the heart of the Salem community since DAYS first aired back in November 1975. Carey and Reid played Tom and Alice through all their ups and downs until their deaths but are never far from the thoughts of their loved ones who still remember the couple. Tom passed away in June 1994 following Carey’s real-life death in March of that year. And following Reid’s passing in February 2010, her beloved alter ego of Alice died in June.
As the family continues to reel from the loss of the Horton home, fans will not want to miss this special hour full of memories, love, romance, drama, and surprises!
