Linsey Godfrey Shares the Parenting Lessons She Learned From Her Mom (EXCLUSIVE)

Tags:

“My mom always says that your first child is payback for what you were like as a kid, and my [4-year-old], Aleda, totally is,” laughed Linsey Godfrey (Sarah, DAYS OF OUR LIVES), adding that her boyfriend, actor Breckin Meyer (THE FIX), describes her as being like “a shaken bottle of soda. I’m all over the place. I’m always hyper, I talk so much, and I can’t stop moving. My kid is the exact same way. After a long day, I’ll come home, and her energy level is, ‘Whoa!’”

Fortunately, Godfrey’s mother set a good example for how to provide balance and raise a rambunctious girl to become a lady. “I grew up in the South, and my mom was really big on manners,” the actress related. “She taught us that everyone deserves your full attention when they’re speaking to you, people deserve love and to be treated with respect.”

Godfrey’s sister passed those values down to her daughter, Emme, who as Aleda’s current nanny is now helping Godfrey share them as well. The grateful mom observed, “So it’s all come full circle.”

When not working at DAYS, Sarah’s portrayer enjoys spending quality time with her little one doing art projects and sharing dance parties. “Aleda also loves to do things around the house like helping with cooking, laundry, and doing the dishes,” Godfrey confided. “And singing in the car is our favorite thing in the world!”

Until moving into a new home and creating a blended family with Meyer and his two girls, the performer had been living in a guest house behind the home of pal Camryn Grimes’ (Mariah, THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS) grandparents. “I call them Grammy and Grampy,” Godfrey said, adding that she’s become an honorary member of the Grimes clan. “I usually come up and see them for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.”
