Lucas Adams Says Goodbye to DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Viewers should prepare for Tripp to say goodbye to Salem again as Lucas Adams leaves DAYS OF OUR LIVES for the second time. Although the young actor admitted to Soap Opera Digest that he “was definitely more prepared for it” this time around, the decision still surprised him.

Given that the Tripp/Allie/Chanel triangle had come to an end, he somewhat understood the decision to write his character off the show. “Tripp was mostly the third wheel, so it totally made sense storyline-wise,” Adams said. “But it did surprise me, because we just had that whole storyline of Tripp dying and being brought back. I guess Tripp is not someone who sticks around all the time. He needs to stretch his wings every now and then.”

It would have been easy for DAYS to simply let Tripp sacrifice his life to save Allie from the devil but the fact that the soap brought him back to life and had him leave Salem on his own terms bodes well for another return in the future. And daytime vets like Tamara Braun (Ava), Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), and Stephen Nichols (Steve) agreed. “They were like, ‘You didn’t die. You’ll be back,’” he recalled. “They’ve been in the ballgame a long time. They’ve seen people come and go. They’ve come and went. They know how it works.”

Adams joined the cast of DAYS in March 2017 as Steve and Kayla’s son and after leaving in August 2019, reprised the role in September 2020. And while this might be the last viewers see of Tripp on DAYS for a while, he’ll be showing up in the upcoming second series of the soap’s spinoff, BEYOND SALEM, which begins streaming on Peacock on Monday, July 11.

“It was only a couple of months after I ended DAYS, so it was like I never really left,” Adams said of taping the spinoff. “I was pumped to get to come back. Peacock is so much bigger, and there’s a lot of stuff going on. It’s a whole new ballgame, and it was really fun.”
