Peter Porte Opens up About Joining the Cast of DAYS OF OUR LIVES

After leaving THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS where he played Ricky Williams from 2011-12, actor Peter Porte found success in primetime and in Hallmark and Lifetime TV movies. He returned to soaps in 2021 to play ISA agent Kyle Graham in the first season of DAYS OF OUR LIVES: BEYOND SALEM and after his character was revealed to be the villainous Dimitri von Leuschner and carted off to prison, Porte thought that was the end of that. But he was wrong!

“Lo and behold, I got the call and it was to just check my availability and I said, ‘Oh, okay. Sure. Yeah, I’m available,’” he told Soap Opera Digest. “I thought they were throwing me in for another episode and then they offered the contract and I was shocked. I’m very excited for the viewers just to see how many twists the storyline of Dimitri von Leuschner goes through in a very short amount of time.”

While diving back into the hectic shooting pace of daytime has been an adjustment, Porte remains excited about developing Dimitri’s character on DAYS as the scripts come in. “That’s the fun thing about being on every day, that you really have the time to develop a character before the audience’s eyes,” he explained. “I don’t know where the story is going, so it’s a surprise to us every week and I’m like, ‘Oh, wow, okay.’”

With Dimitri revealing that Kate wasn’t his only hostage and the fact that he’s Megan DiMera’s son, the stage is set for all kinds of exciting twists and turns. Who knows what might come next? Whatever comes, Porte is just happy to be back in daytime again.

“I have always wanted to come back because I think it’s the closest to live theater that we have on this coast and that’s where I got my start,” he confided. “I also am very fortunate to be working with a writing team that is very talented and cares about these characters. And the people that I’ve been paired with on this show are everything. The cast that I’ve had the privilege of working with has perhaps been my favorite experience so far.”
